You have your Big Picture Communications Timeline. But before we can get to your editorial calendar, we need to create another document: your Core Topics List.
Core topics are what you want to be known for. In the book, I use two metaphors to help you think about core topics.
The first is the broccoli and the cheese. The broccoli is what you desperately wish people cared about. The cheese represents that information that people love getting from you. You need a tasty mix of both on your Core Topics List.
The second metaphor is related to gardening, and how your Core Topics show up in your communications in much the same way that evergreens, perennials, and annuals show up in your garden.
